What are Wear Studs?

Wear Studs are widely used in the Earth-moving and Mining Industries. They are essentially small hardened metal buttons, installed in close formation to form a dense pattern and a barrier between the product being moved and the base material. Used successfully in reducing wear on buckets, loaders, crushers, tipper trays, or any surface subject to high abrasion from dirt, rock and ore.

How well do they work?

Wear studs are used in some of the worst wear situations imaginable, they can extend wear life between 3 and 10 times that of traditional ‘quench and tempered plate’ or ‘hard facing’. Of course wear life is dependent on particle type, hardness, size and many other factors.

Installation?

STUDCO installs tens of thousands of wear studs every year to clients all across Western Australia. The tight pattern formation of wear studs means that they are relatively quick to install thus reducing the cost per stud to levels that are surprisingly cost effective.
